RARE INGREDIENTS, NEW FORMULA!

Potassium Iodide (KI)

Iodide concentrates in the thyroid and is functionally involved in trillions of processes throughout the body including basal metabolism, ovulation, and immune function†. Considered an essential mineral for human health, iodide travels to the NIS-rich tissues in the thyroid gland, cervix, ovaries, placenta, eyes, skin, and lactating breasts.(7)

Molecular Iodine (I2)

The earth-sourced mineral Molecular Iodine reaches tissues in the breasts, prostate, tumor sites, and cystic areas that can't be reached as easily by potassium iodide. Molecular iodine acts at a mitochondrial level, as an antioxidant, and studies show it may attenuate benign and cancerous growths (8).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Miss Lizzy Answers

Founder, patient, advocate, wife, and mom, I'm here to answer your questions!

What makes Thiodine different from other products?

When we say you'd have a hard time finding a higher quality iodine supplement, we mean it. We don't cut corners because your health is too important.

Quality Standards

Think of it this way. The term "iodine" is much like the term "coffee." It might sound like coffee is all the same, but it's simply not true. What makes Starbucks different from your local coffee shop, Dunkin Donuts, or Folgers? The source, sustainability, manufacturing, roasting, and farming practices. The same is true for iodine.

Iodine grades range from something you might use in a chemistry lab or an aquarium to prescription-grade iodine for human use.

Mining Standards

Our Geologist explains it this way. When it comes to iodine mining and sustainability, there are different methods, grades, and quality standards. Outside of China, one of the largest producers of iodine is the Caliche mines in South America. Caliche iodine is often referred to as "Dirty Iodine" because the iodine does not meet USP Grade. In terms of sustainability, the Caliche mining method uses explosives to blast large areas of the Earth's crust and "scrape" the blasted material.

Manufacturing Standards

Just like in food production, there are licensing and quality standards. That's how you know it's safe to eat at your local restaurant. The FDA helps assure the identity, strength, quality, and purity through cGMP manufacturing of dietary supplements.

CGMP

CGMP stands for Current Good Manufacturing Practice, which assures you of control manufacturing operations including quality management systems, obtaining appropriate quality raw materials, establishing robust operating procedures, detecting and investigating product quality deviations, and maintaining reliable testing laboratories,

That's why ingredients, sustainability, sourcing, manufacturing, state & local compliance, and certified quality set us apart. We can proudly and confidently say Thiodine is:

  • Made under CGMP in the USA
  • Certified USP Grade, 99. 8% Pure
  • Rigorously Tested
  • Sustainably-sourced from deep Earth USA mines
  • Encoded with LOT # and Expiration Date for safety, traceability, and accountability
  • Licensed & Insured
  • Compliant with federal, state, and local regulations

Is Thiodine suitable for dietary or iodine allergies?

Iodine is a vital nutrient utilized by every cell in the body. Thiodine has no wheat, dairy, corn, soy, sugar, sucrose, eggs, nuts, animal products, pesticides, harmful chemicals, artificial colors, preservatives, sweeteners, or sugar. It's also non-GMO. Thiodine is suitable for any diet, including Paleo, keto, and vegan-friendly. It's even iodine-allergy friendly.

*We always suggest consulting a medical professional.

How do I use Thiodine tablets?

Thiodine may boost energy so some people prefer to use it in the morning. Thiodine tablets are convenient way to supplement with iodine. We suggest taking Thiodine liquid or tablets an hour apart from citrus, Vitamin C, or ascobic acid to get the maximum potency of our special iodide and iodine formula.

The suggested serving size is one (1) tablet per day or as directed by a healthcare professional. Some people use more, others use less. The amount of iodine a person needs varies by individual.

CAUTION: Please don't take Thiodine Liquid on a plane or in a your luggage. The liquid formula can stain so we suggest Thiodine tablets for traveling convenience.

What are ingredients and suggested dose?

Thiodine contains potassium iodide, molecular iodine, and distilled water. The suggested serving is 2 small drops, each servings contains approximately 10 MG of potassium iodide of which 7.5 MG is the iodide component and 5 MG of molecular iodine, for a total of approximately 12.5 MG of iodine per serving.

Each bottle contains approximately 90 tablets and lasts anywhere from 1-3 months (or longer) depending on use.

Thiodine comes from earth mined iodine crytals in the USA. Our exclusive source of iodine is the highest quality, potency and purity in a USP grade, 99.8 % pure iodine supplement.

Can I use Thiodine with other thyroid medication?

The primary role of the thyroid gland is to help make thyroid hormones. These thyroid hormones are called T4 and T3, and they play a vital role in your energy, metabolism, immune function, reproductive health, and more.

When the thyroid gland isn't producing enough of these thyroid hormones, you may develop a condition called Hypothyroidism or experience symptoms including:

- Low body temperature

- Feeling cold

- Fatigue, exhaustion, low energy even with plenty of sleep

- Hormone imbalances

- Infertility

- Dry hair, skin, and nails,

- Weight gain

- Thyroid goiter or nodules

Your doctor may prescribe thyroid hormone replacement medication.

However, it's essential to understand how thyroid hormone production works.

The body requires certain minerals to make thyroid hormones -- iodine and selenium. Iodine helps the thyroid make thyroid hormones (mostly T4 and a little T3), and selenium helps convert T4 into T3 for energy.

Like with a car, you need the right kind of fuel in the tank, a key to start the engine, and filters to remove impurities.

If any or all of these systems fail, you may not feel great.

For example, a person might not be getting enough T4 for fuel, which may leave them with Hypothyroid symptoms.

A person might be getting plenty of T4 thyroid hormones, but if their body can't effectively convert T4 into T3, it would be like stepping on a gas pedal while your car is park. You'd flood the engine.

A person might have filtration issues, meaning bromine and fluoride clog the thyroid cell receptors (and other tissues), blocking thyroid hormone production. Thyroid medication might help compensate for some of what the thyroid can't do on its own due to these endocrine disruptors. But it won't dislodge bromine and fluoride because thyroid medication is not a halide like iodine.

As you can see, iodine and selenium levels play a vital role in supporting thyroid function.

Our supplements are formulated to help with these three essential processes.

Thiodine provides the fuel

Thiosel provides the key

Thiosalt helps provides the filtration

People may find they need a combination of thyroid medication and supplements to support thyroid function, but everyone is different.

That's we always recommend working with a medical practitioner and discussing before taking this or any supplement.

What if I don't have a thyroid?

Most people know that the thyroid gland needs iodine, and while that's true, many don't know that every cell in the body needs iodine. That's trillions of cells. So if you're not getting iodine because you don't have a thyroid, it's essential to understand all the many processes that rely on this vital nutrient.

However, many people don't realize there are two types of iodine -- molecular iodine and potassium iodide -- each reaches different tissues in the body.

Potassium iodide travels through the NIS pathways to support the thyroid, hair, skin, and nails.

If you don't have a thyroid, it's true, supplements with potassium iodide will not be of much help. They may still have a benefit for the hair and skin.

However, molecular iodine travels to tissues in the breasts, ovaries, brain, pineal gland, pancreas, eyes, and other tissues that Potassium Iodide cannot reach.

That's why understanding the type of iodine is essential and supporting all the cells in the body, not just the thyroid.

For people who don't have a thyroid, the conversion of thyroid hormone T4 into the active T3 -- which happens primarily in the liver -- is another critical factor. Like having a gas tank fuel of full, you need a key to start the car.

Whether your body naturally makes thyroid hormones or gets them from medication, the body needs certain nutrients, specifically, adequate selenium, to help convert those hormones.

Learn how Thiosel is formulated to support conversion.

What is Iodine "Stockpiling"?

When starting a high potency iodine supplement like Thiodine, some people may experience tightness or a swelling sensation in the thyroid area of the throat. It may a short-term issue we call "stockpiling."

If the thyroid has been deficient in iodine (in some cases for a long time), and you start a high potency supplement like Thiodine, the thyroid may "overindulge" on iodine.

While Stockpiling is not a clinical term, it gives you an idea of what might when the thyroid gets excited about the new iodine and tries to save it for future use.

Similar to if you were very hungry and went to a buffet, you might have a hard time resisting all the food. As a result you might over-eat and feel stuffed. The thyroid gland can overindulge, too. Similar to digestion, the stockpile of iodine may naturally work itself out.

The thyroid requires iodine to make thyroid hormones. Under normal conditions, the thyroid gland can have as much as 15 MG of iodine, and that's not counting the rest of this body -- ovaries have the next highest concentration. So iodine is essential for the entire body. But the thyroid is first in line at the buffet.

If the thyroid is Stockpiling, once it realizes it doesn't need to eat a week's worth of iodine in one sitting, it will release the iodine to the rest of the body.

So a swelling sensation or tightness in the thyroid area of the throat that occurs after starting iodine supplementation might be Stockpiling. But it could be something else, so if the sensation persists or you are concerned at all, please always consult a medical practitioner (ideally one who specializes in iodine).

I have Hashimoto's and was told not to use Iodine

Frequently Hashimoto's patients have heard iodine supplementation is dangerous, and they should avoid it at all costs, but that's simply not true.

When used correctly with the right nutrients and a knowledgeable medical practitioner's help, iodine supplementation may be an essential element of the Hashimoto patient's tool kit.

A vital issue for Hashimoto's patients is appropriately supporting the thyroid during conversion, protecting from oxidative damage. Our bodies need to make thyroid hormones for energy, just like a key that starts your car.

According to Chen et al. (2007), scientists found that extra selenium allowed the subjects to consume higher doses of iodine without altering the immune parameters. (15) As a result, patients received the benefits of iodine without oxidative damage. (16)

Selenium levels play a vital role in thyroid hormone conversion, helping convert the inactive T4 thyroid hormone into the active T3 hormone.

According to a top British Doctor, Marek Doyle, iodine is safe, beneficial, and often necessary to rebalance Hashimoto's thyroid function when used in the right way. (17)

The research suggests a physiological dose (100 mcg-400 mcg) of selenium in the form of selenomethionine (Thiosel) may help support the thyroid during conversion, increase serum selenium levels with a reduced risk of selenium toxicity.

Do I get enough iodine from iodized salt?

It might be a surprise to learn that iodized salt is not a great source of iodine. But three common misconceptions about salt and iodine might surprise you even more.

1. Most salt is not iodized

2. Salt this iodized contains only potassium iodide

3. Iodized salt loses a lot of the iodide by the time it reaches your home

There's even more to the story about processed salt (which is actually cheaply manufactured) and the health risks.

Read the whole story about iodized salt.
